(lemons, cigarettes, candles)
Do you pray god in the form of rock, trees, animals, object etc? Do u offer candles, cigarettes, lemons, and I don’t know what more to god? The mere thought of that make me think of longanis! Last Sunday my aunt took me to a place in the north, which on seeing I was on the point of crying! Imagine the scene there, few people of all religion, closed-door of gods, black colored god, blue colored gods, odds rock, candles, cigarettes, strange threads etc… I don’t object we pray idols form of god but praying odd forms of god… :/
Those murtis(idols) inside the temple evoked fear.. I’ve seen such thing for the very first time. The man/priest was saying strange hymns, strange type of prayer going on.. I will know more next Sunday as he told my mum to bring me along with some ingredients like 3 coconut, candles, cigarettes etc. When I questioned my aunt about why and how they do all this they told me “to encore zenfant la aster la to pas pu cone sa” pff I was damn angry because I don’t pray things I don’t know, theses are blind beliefs which people accept when they have no choice damn it!
When I went again next Sunday, then I was fully convinced that was longanis! While the priest was offering the strange ingredients he told to bring along on the place (the picture) i was o.O and observing all around when suddenly I saw a rooster getting out from an old man’s bag!! Bingo!! Goshhhhhh I wanted to cry at that time. The responsible priest took a lemon and squeezed that on my name!! (ti mank zis piment comendir 
) I said “oh god to myself”. I’m still wondering why people do such scaring things.
I believe that these beliefs comes from ancient Indian people who were praying all things due to their ignorance. But now I think man do possess some logic to think about all that. Did god say that by offering Him waxes, cigarettes and animals He will be pleased?? I find that nonsense! Its fundamentalism! i think if u beleive in good( God ) then u should also beleive in Bad ( Evil, Demons)… its obvious to tose people to turn to eveil when they do not find a logic in their distress. As God can “Never Harm” it should logically be the evil. So thats why people turn to eveil. Cheap logic….
yeh i agree there should be evil bt this means human should pray them uhhh!?? i thk those ppl to whom god is not helping them “quickly” they move towards evill grrrrrr!!

well according to my knowledge, offerings are religious rites and rituals… it involves pure bhakti, but depends wat we are offering and ya god didnot ask for them bt people offer simply bkoz according to puranas stories, personalised gods had likes and dislikes
example; ganesha liked ladoo so to please him people offer
z concept of 1 reality is monism, 1 reality wizout any form wich is brahmana, zat of the vedas, upanishads, sankara and other philosophers
but if we human wants to aspire for liberation in this kaliyuga
i believe we have to be both religious and spiritual

pure bhakti!!! i dnt thk so to please god i dnt thk 1 should offer blood!! infact pure bhakti means being fully devoted to god.. pure devotion is enough, god does not ask for coco, banane to please Him, jst be a devoted human and doing humble and selfless work is enough for Him..
example= in the ramayana shabri so eg, how devoted she was
just tell me wer god has mention that we should kill animals for his sake??? i dont think in any sacred books its written so!!!
yeh but even polytheism does not include animal sacrifice.. this was abolished in the 18th century.. but still ppl r continuing doing this in the motive to please god.. :/
one thing they dont realise thier problems r due to their own deeds and by kiiling animals they are increasing their sins, thus will continue to suffer in the futur..
yepss kaliyuga! well in the isa upanishad it is mention that to achieve moksha one should follow both vidhya and avidya.. i.e knowlege and ignorance.. but in my case i can see only ignorance, i.e jst rites and cereomies without the proper knowledge..

god is not an idol- hes nature is spiritual ,so we should pray him in spirit and truth-things that you seen its not god will !!-god is like the air you breath,you cant see it but exist -

that’s because they have a thirst for spiritual experience. How you ever thought why people read horoscope, phone to medium/voyant on the radio etc.It’s the same force that is making them pray all kind of things.
i thk its a -ve force plutot.. ive also zis thirst but its more in a positive way..
ppl who read horscope and all, its for their own sake, they are not harming whatevr or whoever..
U think so??? it’s not always the case. many people are into longanis to find a solution to their problem. i’m not saying that they are doing a good thing but rather they are lost. i do not think that your aunt brought you there to harm people.
One question I put to you: Why is there the same idols/god at the longanis place (what you call -ve) and in temples (what u call +ve)? If you do not know which god there were there try to ask your aunt.
is longanis the only way to find a solution to problem? i dont really think so.
yeh it was not to harm just for prayer.. and i dont pray what i dont know :S
umm well i think those in temples do not ask for animal blood to please them, so as to grant human wish.. whereas @ the longanis place they offer blood to solve their problem, to satisfy their selfish need..
when i ask, pff she just told me im still a kid you wont undestand now.. as a kid i dont wana pray anonymous things like strange rocks, poles etc..
awww next week 12.04.09(coincidentally the prayer falls on my birthday) there is a prayer for all student there, i dont wana pass with the help of longanis damn it!!!!

I would advise not to participate in such practices which are linked to the occult. I have been doing counselling for many years and in my experience it can have negative effects on people. In MRU there is a necessity to abandon these old practices and superstitions which have evil inclinations.
